Hello Brian.

We suggest BOTH ! For starters, Welding is an excellent trade to familiarize yourself in for two main reasons:
1. Job Opportunities ( if ever needed )
2. Touch ups on your container home (if and when needed )

as for a pro, it may be a wise decision to go this route because of their experience and know-how. Plus, if you do a little investigating around, you should find some reasonable rates!

Good answer Admin.
I have been trying to convince my brother for years to learn the welding trade.
It is a great trade to know and you can actually practice on your own container home.
Most of the welding on a basic, one story container home will involve the cutouts(windows and doors). You will be welding the frame outs, where the window and door will sit in. These are not important structural systems in the home that would require a professional.
I still suggest that you know what you are doing and practice, but you should be able to weld these parts of the home on your own AFTER you finish your schooling.
Good luck!
